Scholarships

Funding is available for both U.S. and international students. All applicants who receive invitations to join RISS are automatically considered for scholarships.  Simply apply to RISS today!

Scholarship guidelines, criteria, and funding amounts are sponsor specific. Funding normally covers living expenses and transportation. Key scholarship details and eligibility can be found below.

  • United States National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Scholarships
  • RISS University Partner Scholarships
  • NEW: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) RISE Worldwide
  • Carnegie Mellon Supported Scholars
  • Mobility21 Transportation Fellowship
  • Some scholars may be able to receive funding through external partnerships and scholarships from their home country or university.

NSF REU Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

  • US Citizen, US National, or US Permanent Resident (NSF requirement)
  • Must still be an undergraduate during the semester following the RISS program
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
