How can robots we robotics applications to help?
Dr. Jordi Albo-Canals and his team at The Empowered Brain Institute have been working to use robotics applications to support all members of society. They’re focusing better understanding neurodiversity, which they define as “the idea that neurological differences like autism and ADHD are the result of normal, natural variation in the human genome. This represents a new and fundamentally different way of looking at conditions that were traditionally pathologized.” As a non-profit, they mainstream autism awareness campaigns, such as “Faces of Autism”, to celebrate differences and evoke empathy from the public. In these two online sessions, scholars learned about how Dr. Albo-Canals’ research and how robotics can be leveraged in hospital environments to assist autistic patients.
