RISS connects students from across the country and world to contribute to robotics research alongside top CMU researchers. There were over 700 applications to the RISS 2021 program from more than 40 countries and over 300 institutions worldwide.

The RI community welcomes a RISS 2021 cohort with 58 scholars coming from 42 home universities and 13 countries. Of the 29 scholars from the United States, over 50% of these scholars came from a community underrepresented in STEM.
