The world around us is changing quickly, and AI and other technologies are becoming an ever larger part of our lived experiences and classrooms. This workshop is the first in the 2023 educator conversations led by Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Scholars Program in partnership with the Institution for Innovation for Tomorrow.
Workshop One: Leveraging AI Tools for Learning: ChatGPT in the K-12 Classroom
This workshop aims to equip K-12 educators from across fields with background information and vocabulary to enter into conversations on artificial intelligence (AI) and begin to effectively explore and incorporate AI tools, such as ChatGPT, into their own classrooms.
Lunch Discussion: Embracing Technology In in the Age of Acceleration
Over a provided lunch, network and continue the conversation around technology in the classroom in a less formal setting. Questions for discussion starters will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring questions of their own! Discussion will be facilitated by Angela Keiser.
Workshop Two: Mathematics Building Blocks for Robotics: RoboticsEd in the K-12 Classroom
This workshop aims to connect core mathematics concepts with robotics and create a dialogue on how educators can effectively promote pathways to robotics through foundational mathematics building blocks in their own classrooms and programs. It will include a robot demonstration, introduce interactive classroom exercises, and provide a website of curated, free robotics and AI resources for K-12 educators.
