Mingzhu Liu
Mingzhu graduated from the University of Michigan this year and will join Carnegie Mellon University for grad school next semester. Her primary research interest lies in machine learning in healthcare. She has experience in computer vision for medical and biochemical data. Mingzhu was a RISS student last summer, working at the Auton Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Artur Dubrawski where she worked on radiograph datasets of patients susceptible to cancer and their long-term follow-up and mortality incidence. Specifically, her project involved the use of deep learning techniques along with survival analysis methods for mortality prediction. This summer, she will extend this project further. Needless to say, she is exhilarated to be in this lab. In addition to making connections with and learning from her fellow cohort members, Mingzhu will also get a close look at what constitutes day-to-day life for professionals in her desired field. Mingzhu would like to thank the RISS sponsors for providing such an amazing opportunity! She anticipates great growth for herself this coming summer.
