Jeric Jieyi Lew
Hi, I’m Jeric Lew, currently pursuing Mechanical Engineering at NUS in Singapore, with a concentration in Robotics and a minor in Computer Science. I have always been fascinated with robots as a kid, but it has since evolved into an obsession as it is exhilarating and satisfying to develop intelligent robotic systems that are able to autonomously interact with their surroundings. My goal for robotics research is to advance humanity’s capabilities in robotics and Artificial Intelligence, envisioning a future where autonomous robots undertake laborious tasks such as mining and delivery, thereby fostering a more equitable society. My current research interest lie in deep-learning approaches to robotics planning and perception. My previous research experiences are in Computer Vision-Object Detection and Object Tracking at DSO National Laboratories in Singapore and Deep-Reinforcement Learning for autonomous robotic exploration at MARMot Laboratory in NUS with Dr. Guillaume Sartoretti. This summer I will be exploring Deep-Learning based perception and planning for autonomous off-road vehicles at AirLab under the guidance of Dr. Sebastian Scherer. I am grateful for CMU RISS for providing this opportunity to expand my research skills, and I’m eager to dive in and make the most of it.
