Hi, I’m Szymon Rusiecki, currently a third-year Computer Science student at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. For the past two years, I’ve worked on low-level programming, improving my skills through practical applications and problem-solving. Academically, I’ve also been involved in research on graph learning problems with university faculty. In addition, I’ve served as president of the BIT Student Scientific Circle for two years, focusing on promoting collaboration among students and facilitating involvement in artificial intelligence projects. This included organizing workshops, seminars, and networking events. In my free time, I enjoy participating in competitions. Notable achievements include winning the Copenhagen Bioinformatics Hackathon, where I applied artificial intelligence in real-world scenarios for the first time. Additionally, I earned a silver medal representing Poland at the International Tournament of Young Mathematicians, which was a culmination of my dedication and hard work throughout high school. Looking ahead, I’m excited about participating in a DARPA project this summer, where I’ll be working on Bayesian neural networks. It’s a great opportunity to apply my skills to important research, and I’m grateful to everyone at CMU for creating this opportunity and those at AGH for providing the foundational knowledge and support that enabled me to qualify for the RISS.
