Robot Operating System (ROS) Workshop

The CMU Robotics Institute Summer Scholars (RISS) program immerses undergraduate scholars from around the world in cutting-edge robotics research and systems development. As part of this research experience, students attend workshops designed by industry leaders and practitioners. The summer 2018 workshop series kicked off with a Robot Operating System (ROS) workshop taught by Dr. Halit Bener Suay, a Robotics Engineer at the CMU National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC). NREC is the leading center of robotic systems commercialization at CMU. The workshop helped the scholars understand the important role modular software tools play in robotics engineering and research. The three-day workshop included a hands-on group project using ROS, and exposed the scholars to various challenges. The scholars were thankful to Dr. Suay for his effort, hard work, and time in making the workshop possible and for providing a practical learning approach to it.
