My name is Alyssa Hargis. I am an Electrical and Computer Engineering major focused in robotics and am also earning minors in Philosophy and Robotics at the United States Air Force Academy. I am originally from Eagle River, Alaska but I went to high school in Portland, Oregon. I will be working in Dr. Howie Choset’s Biorobotics lab for RISS this summer. I am interested in their rescue related robots as that correlates with my research at the Academy and what I hope to do as a career in the United States Air Force. Previously, I’ve done interdisciplinary research in Pittsburgh as well as work with 3D LiDAR vision, coding for the National Reconnaissance Office, and development of a new robotics course curriculum for the Academy. For hobbies, I am an avid adrenaline addict. I love rock climbing, hiking, cycling, traveling and anything else outdoors. I am thrilled to be joining the RISS cohort this summer and am excited to see where it takes all of us.
