Major:
Mechanical Engineering
Mentor:
Dr. Howie Choset
University:
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

Brighton is a third-year mechanical engineering student at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology interested in creating adaptable robots that are tough and intelligent enough to operate in real-world conditions. At Rose-Hulman, he enjoys building and competing with combat robots (smaller weight-class BattleBots). Brighton has also begun to delve into how machines can become aware of their environment using technologies like computer vision and tactile sensors. He hopes to help build a future where robots can navigate the world and all of its natural and man-made environments as well as—or better than—anything in nature. To further this goal, he will be pursuing a Masters or PhD in robotics. This summer, Brighton will gain valuable research experience at the Biorobotics Lab at Carnegie Mellon University. He looks forward to working with Dr. Howie Choset and Lu Li, and is grateful for the opportunity.
