Jan-Malte is a student at the University of Bielefeld, Germany. He is currently working on his Bachelor’s degree in cognitive computer science. After having the chance to work in the field of robotics during last year’s RISS program, he has developed an interest in robotic manipulation and how different types of sensor data can change approaches to different tasks like grasping. This summer, he will be joining the Intelligent Autonomous Manipulation Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Oliver Kroemer. There, he will be exploring how haptic sensor data and natural language context can be combined to better grasp unknown objects. He is thrilled to be working with world-renowned researchers and to meet many other people with a passion for robotics. He wants to thank Dr. Oliver Kroemer, Rachel Burcin, Dr. John M. Dolan, the RISS sponsors, and CMU as a whole for giving him this amazing opportunity.
