Kai He

Kai is a rising senior undergraduate at ShanghaiTech University in China, majoring in computer science and technology. His research interests center on the domain of 3D vision, specifically focusing on 3D Reconstruction, Generation, and Neural Rendering. Within the VRVC laboratory under the supervision of Professors Jingyi Yu and Lan Xu, he has been lucky to engage in a range of 3D vision projects towards digitally reconstructing objects from the real world and leveraging advanced rendering techniques to create photorealistic human avatars for various applications. This summer, he feels fortunate to collaborate with Dr. Sebastian Scherer and Shibo Zhao at the AirLab, where he will work towards advancing my exploration of the dynamic 3D world by focusing on scene reconstruction and understanding—an area of research with the potential to benefit robotics navigation and interaction in unfamiliar environments. Kai appreciates the RISS staff and faculty for imparting such a remarkable opportunity to learn and explore new horizons at CMU.
