Riya Kumari

Riya is a rising senior studying computer science at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). Her research interests lie at the intersection of perception, planning, and AI for autonomous robots. During her time at UMD, Riya has worked with the Perception and Robotics Group to create WorldGen—a scalable photorealistic generative simulator for robots. This summer, as part of RISS, she will work with Dr. Basti Scherer, Dr. Yaoyu Hu, and the AirLab on improving depth completion for UAV-based 3D reconstruction. Riya is grateful to all the RISS organizers, mentors, sponsors, and cohort for this great opportunity to learn and grow as a researcher. She looks forward to having a fun and collaborative summer research experience.
